for above-and below-ground facilities housing the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) Near Detector and related infrastructure. The DUNE project aims to explore neutrinos, the most abundant particles with mass in the universe. Construction is expected to begin this year, with the overall project exceeding $1 billion in costs.

Jacobs brings extensive experience in delivering complex infrastructure projects, including the Grand Central Madison program, the RiverRenew Tunnel Project, and the Thames Tideway Tunnel. Jacobs Executive Vice President Susannah Kerr emphasized “This project particularly showcases our in-depth knowledge in deep surface excavation and foundation systems, construction of complex research facilities, construction safety and intricate concrete structures and directly supports the potential for scientific discovery.” Fermilab’s collaboration with over 1,400 scientists and engineers worldwide will advance groundbreaking research through the DUNE program, with the LBNF facilities playing a crucial role in the study of neutrinos across its sites in Illinois and South Dakota.
