These tools complement established digital therapeutics and consumer health apps, enhancing care pathways and reducing provider workload. Currently, over 337,000 digital health apps, 360 digital therapies, and 103 digital diagnostics are commercially available, with many focusing on mental health, diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and emerging areas such as sensory impairments and dermatological issues.

The report highlights that AI/ML-powered tools, including 801 FDA-approved devices, are driving innovation in diagnostics and remote monitoring. Sensor-based measures are transforming clinical trials by offering precise digital endpoints, while remote monitoring enables hospital-at-home care, improving patient outcomes. Despite challenges in uptake and scaling, strong clinical evidence is boosting adoption and ensuring these solutions align with existing healthcare pathways.
