designed to execute complex quantum algorithms that surpass classical computing methods. This installation will support academic and industrial research while advancing the Basque Country Government’s IKUR 2030 vision for quantum technologies. Researchers and industry experts will have access to this infrastructure to develop new algorithms and explore applications in material science and sustainability.

The IBM-Euskadi Quantum Computational Center was established in 2023 to promote the use of advanced technology across the Basque Country. It supports international research collaborations and increases the number of quantum-trained professionals in the region. IBM and the Basque Government are also working on workforce development programs to enhance expertise in quantum computing. The installation of IBM Quantum System Two is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, providing Spain’s quantum research community with powerful tools to advance scientific discovery and technological innovation.
