According to Bain & Company's Global Healthcare Private Equity Report 2025, the worth of healthcare private equity deals hit $115 billion in 2024, which was the second-highest amount ever. The rise was driven by an increase in large-scale transactions, with five deals exceeding $5 billion compared to just two in 2023. The biopharma sector led in deal value, driven by major transactions despite a slight decrease in overall volume compared to previous years. Healthcare IT also witnessed a significant rebound as companies invested in efficiency and innovation amid financial and regulatory pressures.

Europe’s healthcare private equity market reached record highs, driven by growth in smaller deals and stabilization of the macroenvironment. Mid-market funds demonstrated strong performance, having raised $59 billion since 2022 and expanded investments into healthcare IT and medtech. Carve-outs also gained traction, allowing firms to acquire assets with significant value-creation potential. Despite a 41% decline in exit volumes since 2021, experts anticipate increased sponsor exits and improved buyer-seller alignment in 2025, supported by stabilizing interest rates and economic conditions in key regions including the U.S., Japan, and India.
