The survey, which included 347 U.S. supply chain leaders, emphasizes the urgent need for organizations to reconsider how they view and invest in supply chains amid increasing complexity and volatility.

The study also highlights gaps in perceptions about digital transformation and cross-functional collaboration. While 39% of supply chain executives expect their operations to be autonomous by 2030, only 25% of C-suite leaders share this view, with many seeing a longer timeline for digital maturity. EY’s research calls for supply chain leaders to better align their metrics with business objectives, improve cross-functional collaboration, and integrate customer experience metrics. Addressing these gaps is seen as essential to elevating the supply chain's role from a cost center to a driver of growth and innovation.
