Andrew Borene is Executive Director of International Markets & Global Security at Flashpoint, the world’s largest private threat intelligence firm empowering customers to make mission-critical decisions to keep people and assets safe. A Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and licensed attorney, Borene brings 25 years in national security, intelligence, privacy, and cybersecurity to the forefront of his work with business leaders. With expertise in international public-private partnerships, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and cyber threat intelligence (CTI), he is a sought after expert workshop facilitator. He regularly appears as a guest security analyst on news networks including CNBC, Fox Business, CNN, BBC, etc. He is quoted in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Financial Times, USA Today, and The Economist.

Borene has previously been CEO at a publicly traded encryption technology company, and his leadership experience includes tenures at Fortune 500 technology companies including IBM, Symantec, Booz Allen Hamilton, LexisNexis, and Wells Fargo. Before joining Flashpoint, Borene was the Chief Privacy Officer at the National Counterintelligence and Security Center where he developed, coordinated, and delivered an award winning government privacy compliance framework for both data and operational programs. Other federal service included being a chief of counterterrorism planning and serving as Associate Deputy General Counsel at the Pentagon, complemented by U.S. Marine Corps service.

Borene’s active board work includes the European Marshall Center’s Partnership for Peace Consortium, which fosters cooperation among over 800 defense academies and security institutes across 60 nations and NATO. He also serves in advisory capacities with Lexpat Global Services, Hilltop Technologies, the Special Operations Association of America, and George Mason University’s National Security Institute.

Borene has a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, a B.A. in Economics from Macalester College, and executive education in international finance from Harvard University. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Royal United Services Institute, his past professional recognitions have included the FBI Director’s Award and the ODNI Exceptional Achievement Award.
